I've found when I'm skydiving that baseball batter's gloves are also really good for keeping out the cold and allow pretty similar sensitivity to the nomex aircrew gloves. They're also a bit cheaper and easier to come by. From experience taking nomex out bush on exercise, they aren't that durable because the stiching that holds the leather to the rest of the material is on the palm side and it gets worn away pretty quick. On the batter's gloves, the stitching tends to be more towards the back of the hand. Of course after having said all this stuff I haven't tried either sort of gloves for climbing . . .
