has anyone tryed these out? (ambition 10.5) and if not which ropes are the toughest and most supple at a good price?
cheers.

I haven't tried the Ambition 10.5mm but I recently bought a Master 9.2mm which I really like.

Being a 9.2mm, it's certainly not the toughest rope but it is very supple and I got it at a good price. I bought it as a light weight rope for sport climbing redpoints (yeah, right!) and as something I could use as a double if need be (more like it!). Also I was after a light weight rope to take overseas, rather than lugging my fat rope (the main reason).

When my Edelweiss 10.5mm gives up the ghost, I would certainly replace it with a similar diameter Tendon rope. I think they are excellent for the price.

I've got a 9.7 (which feels thin) and it's worked well, I use a Black Diamond Jaws type ATC on it.

I've been furtunate enough to use the Ambition 10.2mm a fair bit (as well as many others of a similar diameter) and have been really impressed by it. Can be a bit twisty at times but if you take the time with it initially then you shouldn't have any issues. IMHO you can't go past these for good quality and excellent value for money.

I have a 10.2 and it has so far proven to be great value for money. Time will tell but so far I cannot fault it.

Ive had the 10.2 Ambition and now have a 9.8 (in the other type - where the sheath is much smoother).

Gotta say the 9.8 is wearing much better. I found the 10.2 fluffed up pretty quickly. Other than that I have quite liked them both. I have been using the GriGri on the 9.8 and while its more slippery (which is actually quite nice) I haven't had any problems with it gripping/slipping. I did buy a high friction ATC for my wife to use with it though.

I am new to the forum, not really new to climbing any more (always learning I hope)

Bringing up and old post a bit, but...
I am looking for a new rope, I have been shopping around as is expected and have taken a look at all the
usual suspects but I have found Tendon ropes which stood out. From what I read, they are great but I
was just curious, I have found when comparing the rope to similar others it is sometimes close to half
price! Should I be cautious? the ratings seem to be in order, they appear all good, is the Verdict still just
a great rope at an awesome price?

Thanks Sam

I have a Tendon 9.4mm single and a pair of 8.5mm half ropes. I really like them.

I would still say they are excellent ropes.

Czechoslovakian = cheap,
Modern rope construction methods = Quality
Best of both worlds, first & third

A pedant would point out that Czechoslovakia doesn't exist any more, but I will refrain...

I have a 9.8mm 60m bi-colour and am more than happy with it.

They are cheap because Steve H doesn't whack on the ridiculous markups that most retailers do. This is because he is rad. Nothinig to be cautious about, they are awesome ropes.

I'll second the above. Good ropes, as well made as any other you could find, lower cost base in Czech Republic combined with Steve's direct importing = great value local pricing.
