There is no need for another grigri debate. If you are an incompetent moron then you may drop someone with an autolocking device. Basically that article reccomends knowing how to use your gear. Shit eh, never would have thought of that.

Neither of the incidents described in the article mention whether the belayer was holding the free end of the rope ... I suspect not. Incorrect technique may cause accidents with any gear.

Nice to read - especially as I just bought my first Grigri. I still like a figure eight though - the less moving parts the better!
