Hey,

I'm just interested in how much a pair of v10 by Five Ten would cost to get into Australia? Would it be best just to order it over the net from overseas or try and get an outdoor company to order them in for me? I asked one guy at an outdoor store and he wasn't sure about how much it would cost to get in (rough est. $200-300) and that it probably take a while to get in (ie 2-3 months). So i was pretty disappointed about that, so i'm just wondering what the best way would be to get them in and how much approx?

Your best bet is to order from overseas and get some other stuff to help justify the shipping.

I have seen them priced reasonably on UK sites more often than US ones funnily enough.

Also, if you have a pair of Five Ten shoes already, email their customer service with the details of your current shoes (eg Anasazi Velcro pre Onyx model size 7.5US) and they will tell you what your best bet would be for size if you can't try them on.

I emailed them a similar question and they told me to go UP a half to full size from the current sizing of my Anasazi's.

Good luck. If you don't want to take the risk of getting it wrong, look into a pair of Sportiva Venom's locally. They deliver the goods, too.

hello i am very interested in getting a pair also, You can buy them from Hong Kong or the UK direct from Outdoor shops at a price way less than $200-300 even with shipping, i'm sorry that i cannot give u any online stores to look into because i am unsure on them myself, i would be keen to go in with u on a bulk order if you were keen. a little research is required! please mail me on cowd87@hotmail.com

are they the yellow ones? if i can try a pair on i may be keen too, how do the heels compare to katanas/miuras?

Yup - these are the yellow ones you see Dave Graham and Bernd Zangerl wearing all the time. Probably one of the most popular bouldering shoes but would suck on routes of any length.

The advantage if you can organise an outdoor shop to bring them in for you is if they don't fit and the shop is willing to put them into stock, then you only pay for the shoes you end up with. Unless you know for a fact that you're going to fit a pair of shoes, it's best not to purchase from the net.

Having said that, two years ago I purchase a second pair of 5.10 Huecos directly from 5.10, I wasn't able to source them in Australia. The cost of the Huecos is about the same as the v10's and after shipping costs, foreign currency conversion fees etc, the total cost came in under AUD$200, the shoes cost USD$125 + USD$25 shipping. It will work out about $10-20 less now because the exchange rate has improved. It took about 2-3 weeks for them to arrive.

I have had good experiences buying rock gear in from needlesports in the uk - www.needlesports.com

You will get 17.5% tax off the advertised price and they charged me about 10GBP to ship stuff under a kilo.

They do sell the V10

I've been through quite a few pairs of V10's and they are my shoe of choice for steep stuff. However, the heels are attrocious but the toe-down action is fantastic. If you want a good steep shoe with a great heel, get the new lace up Dragons. If you haven't worn V10's before I seriously suggest you try them first as they are hard to size and a weird fit that bears no resemblance (and is therefore a waste of time comparing the fit) to any other 5.10 shoe apart from the Dragons. Not a shoe that will suit everybody!

I always get my stuff direct from 5.10. Even with the $35 postage it works out as the cheapest option. Mine have always arrived within 7 days and, obviously, they are guaranteed to have your size!
