MaxCams: Greater Range & Less Weight? 6-Feb-2004 At 12:49:28 PM Brass Nutz
Message
Ok guys we have been talking with Trango for the last few days this is what they have said:

The Maxcams are the most significant new cam design to hit the market in over 12 years. Most sizes of Maxcams cover the range of two or three regular cams. With the Maxcams Trango has achieved a 2:1 expansion ratio without adding additional weight or complexity. By comparison, most cams have an expansion range of between 1.4:1 and 1.6:1. The huge expansion ratio is the result of having the axles of the outer cams attached to the inner pair. As the cams are retracted the floating axles move closer to the stem, reducing the size of crack Maxcam can fit into. Maxcams are outfitted with Trango's easy to use thumb loop for precise control and a double UltraTape sling which lets you to clip in at three different points, often eliminating the need for an additional quickdraw.
