BD Neutrino Draws..

2:14:12 AM
Just bought myself half a dozen of these light beauties.. Just wondering how people rated draws with wire gate on each end? Pros/Cons?

great for clipping rings but dont go clipping bolt plates

I think as long as you always use the same biner to clip onto the bolt its ok. Their colour coded for this reason I guess..

wear of the top biner is a minor point.
Wire gates are a big nono in the brackets used on carrots (as there is so little volume in the gate, the plate can come straight off).
Otherwise in any situation wire gates are a lot like bent gates, easy to clip, easy to unclip. The chance of unclipping is minimised with flexible draws, but never eliminated.

ahh I see.. So the biner slips up as you ascend carrying the plate with it. You would think there would be something in the design of plates to prevent this from happening.

There is something in the design of the plates. When using full biners rather than wire gates, the biner
fills the 'hole' in the plate making it impossible to remove the plate from the bolt while the biner is there.
