I went climbing at Mt. York today and managed to fix my #6 BD camalot on Lishenbak. I know, I know- I'm an idiot. I plan to return next week to retrieve it. Would you please leave it be for now, so that I may have a chance to get it before it is bootied? Thanks.

driving up at 4:30am, rapping in the gloom, removing cam (I assume it's overcammed) by method below, and driving back to be in town by 8 am is very feasible. (While you're at it place 25 Ubolts).

Removing an overcammed unit:-, put wires on triggers and hang ~ half bodyweight. Tap the shaft towards the cam. it'll loosen and (if you know where the crack is slightly wider) move it where you want.

I drove up this morning to remove the cam, but it was much deeper in the crack than when I left it. I'm guessing that someone had a go at removing it late yesterday afternoon and pushed it deeper. Yesterday I could touch all of the individual lobes with my fingers, but today I couldn't reach any part of the cam, even the stem. I was able to sling the trigger with wires, but I couldn't make any headway. I didn't use Mikl's method (thanks Mikl!). It is rather badly overcammed.

I'm off to the US for a few weeks. Anyone who wants to thrash about in an offwidth is welcome to have a go and claim the booty. I'm more concerned about the eyesore for future climbers than I am about getting my gear back. I'm embarrassed for making such a crummy placement- I guess I was overly excited to place my brand new #6.

No, it just means you haven't seen my slcd rack ;-)

Im in the area tommorow, I will have a squiz and maybe a tug and tap. Let you know if any success (I doubt its still there?) tiz a popular climb!

I don't know how deep it is, but a longish rod can help with the shaft-tapping.
Pull wired nuts down on their wires and snug them up onto the trigger bar on each side

I'd be guessing the dirtbaggers in the pines, they'll do anything for booty gear.
