Hi folks,
I have a couple of cams that need new trigger wires (completely snapped).
Would do it myself but don't have the right size swager anymore.
Who do you recommend in Melb for repair?
How much should I expect per cam?
Thanks,
Jon.

Braided fishing line and light insulated electrical cable work. The climbers shop at nati used to do a very good and cheap job.

The Wilderness Shop in Box Hill have the trigger wire repair kits for Wild Country Technical Friends in stock.
They are quite easy to use to replace the trigger wires on tech friends. I don't know their appropriateness to replace wires on other brands of cams though.

get fine whipprsnipper nylon
size it up, bend the cable at right angles where it needs to with pliers, put it thru trigger cams etc and melt the ends to keep it in place. (On a few cams I've had to drill the hole out slightly)
Bombproof, I did it to a camalot 7 years ago and it's still going strong

Or just send them to Warwick Williams, address in the back of Rock. He's been doing them for decades.
Of course, you'll then have to grow a moustache to use them.

I also did one with stainless wire which started fraying pretty quickly, I think the monofiliment nylon is the go, and needs no special tools. I bought a few spools of small whippersnipepr cord at the hardware and some fat monofiliment fishing line, they fit most of the cams I've seen

Do you find the stuffed toy gets in the way in deeper cracks?
