Lost GoPro - Tom Thumb, Blue Mountains

Hello,

Just wondered if anyone has found a GoPro head-cam on “Tom Thumb” under the Fortress in the Grose valley?

It came off my head at the top of the 5th pitch (where you crawl under a bush) on Sun 25 March. I returned last w/e (first available w/e since) but no luck finding it. We started from the top of the 5th pitch to follow the fall-line. We dropped a few pebbles off first, about half stopped on the ledge next to the 2nd abseil anchor, the rest all stopped on the next big ledge, just above the 3rd abseil anchor. I was wearing the head-band not the proper helmet mount, so reckon it would’ve got caught in trees/bushes on the way down.

I’m more upset about the SD card than the GoPro, it had footage from Bjelke’s Mind canyon the day before as well as Tom Thumb and it was recording when it slipped off my helmet.

Thanks, Rich.

Hopefully you'll find the thing, and when you do I'd encourage you to cut together a little clip with overdubbed screaming on the "fall". It'll be an overnight youtube sensation!

Looked for you on Friday while climbing there. Started on Aw Well, but utilised the last two pitches of TT. No sign of any camera, sorry to say.

I can't help but feel that losing the GoPro camera was karma for taking it on Tom Thumb in the first place. What a load of shite that route is. What were you thinking filming an ascent of that?! I only hope that your plan was to show it as a warning to other climbers so as not to waste their time.

I'd rather see the footage of its fall from that climb on youtube if it is ever recovered, than any parochial Victorian footy, or the stumbling of some want to be triathlon entrant as they are both examples of similar stature to Lex Luther being a sook in front of a camera or comic strip graphic artist.

My highs are out of this world and I never take that kind of stufft to get them, especially after being warned off dope by heros mate Tony.
Can't vouch for simey though.

Quick update:
GoPro found and returned, still in working order.

It landed in a tree right next to the second abseil anchor. I’ve uploaded the footage to YouTube: http://youtu.be/cLrMQC5Aq9A

Great footage! I like the bit where it recovers from the initial tumble and rights itself before tumbling again.
