Hi,
I'm currently trying to obtain any old rope from climbers in order to donate it to the Cambodian Fire Service. It doesn't need to be in good working order, because it is only being used to haul gear up sides of building during fires. I'm going over to Cambodia to instruct their fire service in October and would love to take some rope with me. I live in the Melbourne area, so if you are down that way you can contact me on rjmiller313@yahoo.com.au or PM me. You can also check out the website www.afire.org.au to see the good work we do over there as part of an NGO. We are a small group of Melbourne firefighters that volunteer our time and money to help out a country in desperate need of a better emergency service.
cheers,
Ryan

Hi Ryan
Would the nylon in the rope not cause the rope to simply melt during a fire? Or are the ropes to be used on the non-fire-side of the building? Just asking so that if climbing ropes are not suitable for the cause, an appropriate product can be requested for donation ;-)

it's to be used away from the actual fire, so melting won't be an issue. cheers.

Hey Ryan
I'm trying to get on your website but there seems to be a problem with it. I'm a firey in Sydney and am interested to check out what you're up to.

Hey Bob
just checked the website. its up and running. www.afire.org.au
we are always looking for firey's to come over and help us in Cambodia. It's completely voluntary but rewarding. We have a couple of Queensland firey's coming over with us in October.
thanks
