You probably have what is known as plantar fasciitis.

You should try having some orthotics fitted; and make sure you get good, custom fit ones, not ones bought at a pharmacy.

It's possible that climbing has exacerbated the problem, as you put stress on the length of that tendon when you have just your toes on a projection.

I struggled with the complaint for a while - I think mine was brought on by 1. cycling long distances in running shoes (buying proper hard-soled cycling shoes was a help) and 2. walking on hard surfaces in a pair of shoes with hard vibram soles and very little if any cushioning.

Like I said, orthotics made a big difference. Mine are fibreglass molded, full length of the shoe, and the bloke built in a "recess" where the heel bone pushes into the flesh etc pad on the heel - to relieve the strike impact on the bone.
