From Canberra Times on 21 Jan 08:
"NSW police are preparing a report for the coroner after the body of a Canberra man was found at the base of a cliff in Yass on Friday. The 45-year-olds body was discovered by bushwalkers at the bottom of the 30m cliff by a walking track that follows the Yass River, close to the town. police have not named the dead man, who is believed to be a regular rock climber in the area."
Sad news indeed....
Does anyone have any more details?

Very sad indeed,
I would like to know where the 30m cliff is at Yass?

Well it wasn't me! I couldn't get up a cliff high enough last week to fall that far!

There is a small cliff that Scouts use to abseil from. I think it is to the east of Yass and you might be able to see it from the freeway. It has been years since I visited that little crag and I can't really remember much about it.

Driving from Canberra you go down the main street of Yass, and when you cross the bridge going over the Yass River it's on your right along the river. I haven't got up close but from a distance it looks chossy. Handy location for the local Scout group to do some abseiling.
