Hi Chockies , I had an auto-erotic hills hoist accident (whats the odds of landing on a 30cm wide concrete path!?) and have sustained above injury. I am seeing relevant health professionals however figure there are enough motorcyclists present on this forum that might offer me some insight into recovery times. I have some fancy draws on a steep 29 and am thinking maybe two weeks should do it.

I fell off my MTB in 2001 or so and suffered similar to T2-T5 with 45% compression of T4 and T5. The fractures were largely stable but I was directed to stay in hospital for 2 weeks and not lift anything more than 10 kg for 3 months. I had lingering stiffness and chest/back pain for years. YMMV.

Well the post was kind of kidding but after two weeks things are pretty good. Physio allowed me to hangboard after three days and was tentatively climbing after 1.5 wk , back on steep after 2 but not trying too hard and i reckon this coming weejend i can try that climb again proper. Very suprised. No doubt things wont be perfect back there over the years , never has been!!

That's a great recovery.

Motorcyclists generally more so than MTB’ers, and certainly more so than Hills Hoist riders, wear safety gear to try and mitigate such injuries...
;-)

PS; despite participating in both m/cycling & MTB’ing, the only bones that I’ve broken over the years were from surfing, skateboarding, and abseiling! None of these involved my back, and given the nature of your injury I’m surprised that you are back (literally, heh, heh, heh), to climbing so soon.

Maybe Im a little optimistic. Ricardo Ramos warmed up on the project in the sun last w/e and really it didnt look as hard as I recall so I think my back should be fine.
