I had a regular customer walk into my store (with a crutch) today who had just got out of hospital that afternoon. He has spent three weeks in hospital after taking a 15m ground fall. Metal plate in his wrist, surgery on his leg, busted face, think he was still doped up on painkillers.
Turns out he decided to take a shortcut home one day and climb a park cliff instead of walk around. And where of all places did this happen? In Pyrmont, Sydney. I believe the wall is named "Giba Wall".
Just thought I'd bring it up as a reminder to remain discreet in public places when climbing. I didn't hear anything in the media about it but could have just as easily been a piece on a slow news day that could have been detrimental to us all.
It was however nice to see his injuries in no way discouraged him from getting back on the wall once he has recovered fully, and the fact he is here at all was quite an amazing story.

By the sounds of it "short cut home" wouldn't link him to rock climbing... more likely drunk hooligan tries to climb 15m fence...
Reminds me of a young international student I knew (called Bruno no less) who was a prodigious climber, until he got pissed and tried to show off to his mates on the way home by scrambling up the side of a building.. woke up in hospital with two punctured lungs after he fell flat on his back from 4m.
