any one had experience disclosing injuries on insure4less for climbing cover? if I put down that I pulled my finger once, are they just going to refuse cover?

If your not pulling my finger by your question:

I gather they would only be interested in injuries that would result in claims if you were insured by them. i.e. had a bad fall and had a chopper ride.

I have used them quite a few times now and have never put that I have had tweaked fingers, shoulders, knees etc.

I am not the insurance company though....

Seems they have lifted the silly 28 grade limit now which is good!

Insurance companies will use non-disclosure as a reason not to pay up...best disclose everything, leaving something out just so they insure you means when you want to claim something they wont pay up anyway if they find out you lied on application form.

I used them in 2009, took the cover up to 6500m, the extra trad climbing cover. Ended up breaking my back from a bad fall in Yosemite, got rescued, airlifted, to hospital, transfered back to Australia. They covered the lot, a little bit slow on payments (stayed in hospital a little longer than I should have).

I wanted to use them again in 2011, they would not insure me again, too high risk apparently. I don't think your finger injury will cause you trouble. Up to you to disclose it, if there is no medical report about it they can't find out.

I have used IHI for my 2011 trip, they din't really care about my broken back and insured me at the same premium as my partner, go figure...

Interesting to hear a real life example. I presume your stay in the US hospital would have blown the 10,000 EUR limit on Medical provided by the Austrian Alpine Club?

Thanks guys - appreciate the suggestions, will let you know how I go. The AAC UK (Austrian Alpine) have much lower limits, hence using the insure4less people.

A friend mine has used them a bit, he had a non climbing related accident (possible broken wrist needing xrays etc and they paid up no problem)

I think they no longer cover climbing but I could well be wrong.

Yeah all good, climbing better and harder now! Doctor told me I wouldnt be climbing again, proved them wrong 6 months after the accident.

US hospital was charging USD10K per day (5 days), chopper rescue was USD50K, return trip first class was USD30K, so glad I had an insurance that covered me!
If I didn't have the extra trad climbing insurance I would have been screwed!

IHI Bupa, Danish insurance company, recommended by mountaineers, they cover you higher than the standard 6500m from Insure4less, used them in 2009 when I climbed in Nepal higher than 6500m and back in 2011 for climbing only.

Pretty sure they still cover climbing, doesn't hurt to check though!

Definitely agree - disclose everything.
