Had to carry a guy from central gully today. Nears Pebbles.

He fell over whilst scrambling. Very sore wrist, hip and rib. But, he's ok.

Nothing major.

I changed the topic title so people don't get freaked out! (it used to say casualty rather than minor injury).

Thanks, Neil.

I saw this last night and wondered what CHL's point was, a bit.

I believe the point was that there was as an explanation for the ambulance called to the mount. At least that was my interpretation

Naturally whenever an ambulance is seen blasting through town with its sirens on some people are interested and concerned.

I missed the ambulance - post (if not original title) makes more sense now.

A friend of mine Chris Mann died 10 years ago at Araps at Easter - so naturally when i read casualty I thought the worst. I'm sure I wasn't the only one! That's why I changed the title. I opened the post in fear for who had died this year.

Was the injured party actually carted off in an ambulance or was that for something else?

Yea I also got a call about the ambulance asking if anything was going on given the ARG pager apparently had no info. Guess that answers the question. Glad it was only minor injuries.

I'm making inquiries as to why ARG wasn't notified. An ambulance called to Arapiles with lights and sirens should have triggered a call to SES and ARG. It's great that this turned out to be nothing serious but we don't want to miss any incident where we are required.

The ambulance was for a female from ****** university climbing club, who deliberately disobeyed her 'team' leader and broke her wrist (clean break) whilst doing something totally stupid.

So she was behaving like a typical climber :)

Paramedics don't "hoon" when driving code 1 (lights and sirens). They attend potentially serious cases as quickly as the conditions (weather, traffic and driver skill level) will safely allow. Road laws must be adhered to (not road rules). Fast does not equal hoon.

CHL in the OP was referring to a "guy" and "he". Are we talking about the same incident? I've had reports of 2 other ambulances heading towards Natimuk under lights and sirens over Easter but only the one confirmed at Arapiles on Saturday.

Just to clear up any confusion it was definitely a male climber - not a female. He injured himself while scrambling near the base of Golden Fleece wall.

I know him, so either he's a guy or she does a very convincing impression...
