Ideally i would like to get away the 20th to 21st of feb.
Need someone to lead up some outdoor terrain.
I camp light and have all the equipment needed to belay and clean routes except for a nut tool, my level is 16 at the moment. want to work on trusting my feet more.
Occasionally would be nice to do a little indoor too and get away climbing outdoors every available weekend - number is 0423065743

The VCC has a trip to the Grampians that weekend. There's some details here: http://www.vicclimb.org.au/index.php?location=events#155

I'm not a big fan of clubs, usually the rules and restrictions means i'd rather not.

Two rules:
1. Wear a Helmet.
2. Don't be a dick.
Can you handle that?

Classic.
I'd love to see that on the bottom of trip details.

Some of us believe this applies to climbing generally, not just Club trips! ;-)

NO!
I'm not suggesting it should be mandatory or written into legislation.
Whilst a Club's insurance cover may require this to apply on Official Trips, in other situations I believe it
is a purely personal choice -- an aspect of Natural Selection so to speak.

For sure we're probably just talking a bit about common sense which would go hand in hand with natural selection I suppose.

How 'bout a "DICK" tattoo on all climbers' foreheads. A tattoo you can cover conveniently with a helmet....

Tattoos aren't needed. DICK behaviour is usually pretty easily discernible and can't be concealed by a
helmet.

I was going to say I have never been a member of a climbing club but then I realised I was a member of the Wollongong Climbers Association(I think that was what it was called). It was created to intervene on access issues at the Big K. We were accused of being the new IRA. I'm to young to have been a member of the IRA!
Back to the point.
I'm not a club bloke.BUT many people who have helped my climbing are. Kuu was a major influence on my teenage climbing. Club members often know many climbers who aren't club members. Its not like your'e doing a goat and joining the lodge. I have not heard mach bad about the VCC or SRC. Give them a go.

Hey Dave, I had no idea I'd had any influence on your teenage climbing. Good thing you didn't pick-up
on my drinking habit! ;-)
Now that you're approaching 'beard-stroking' age maybe it's time to think about polishing your hexes
and joining a club?
But seriously, helmet wearing is not something confined just to members of climbing clubs. There are
many non-club climbers who wear a helmet - some of them always, and others when crag conditions
dictate. It IS about commonsense. Which is why we (most of us) fasten a seatbelt in the car! And if
you pilot an aircraft it's one of the first things you do. Sudden deceleration or impact with extraneous
objects can be painful - much like encountering a DICK.

Depends on the dick in question, and where it impacts.

Looks like this might end up like birdh's last thread... 5 pages of back and forth and he doesn't end up getting a climb...

I forgot about that thread. What a great weekend. That was the trip that convinced me to
join the VCC... to bad birdh couldn't make it.

Definitely. And just like terrorism, I've forgotten what the original point was?

Was that the trip we bumped into Edmund February?

Aye, that was the trip where you climbed with Edmund February, we drank with simey and
slagged him for the bolts on dribble, met the famous and hot Sarah O'Gara, Impaled my hand
on a stake... Pure gold!
