Hello
My name is Ken. I am in OZ for at least next four weeks. I have a Stationwagon at my disposal, complete with all required camping gear (incl. BBQ & 3 tents!). I want to find one or more people to accompany me climbing. I will be in Melbourne area for next few days. Before I set off on my travels I used to lead HVS/E1, not sure what that is in your lingo, but I am a competent climber in my grade, with plenty of multipitch experience/mountaineering. It will take me a few climbs to get back in gear. I would like to see as much of the country as possible, climbing along the way. I was thinking to drive up to Brisbane and back to Sid over 4 weeks. E-mail me on 'bishopstown@hotmail.com' or SMS 0402569778.
My gear is at home but if I can find someone willing to climb I will buy Harness, boots & Rope. I don't really have cash to buy another rack out here though.
Incidently I will be in NZ for 2 months July/August also looking to climb.
Cheers
Ken

I'd head stright to Frog Buttress - they weather is shite in Victoria at the moment but its will be perfect Frogging weather now. In winter there are usually enough people at Frog to hook up with (although you may be a little early), also try the qurank.com forum for partners for climbing round Qld....

Hi Ken,
Sorry Barby dropped you for that Aussie surfer dude. Don't despair...
If you are heading by Canberra send me an email and I can see what we can do. I have a spare harness and shoes 42 or 43 size.
You don't need blond, busty, cutesy chicks like they have in QLD aka Frog, 200m granite walls are the enticment in this neck of the woods... be a man and check out our runout slabs and sick exposure. 20m cracks with 100% humidity is pussy territory.

ken, make sure you spend at least a week at Arapiles/Grampians before heading to the the nighmare cracks of Queensland. The weather might be shite down here at the moment but the clibming is simply amazing.

Aye, Barbie's a right old hoor at times! Granite sounds good. I have lead up to E1 (18 ozzy I think) on slab routes, but they always scare the bejaysus out of me. Steep cracks and exposure is nae bother. I am trying to hit ARAP for a few days first but I have your E-mail and no. and I intend to head Canberra way so thats cool.
Cheers for the response.
Ken
I'll be picking up shoes then as I am size 46 and yours will just be a wee bit tight!

As Neil says Arapilies is well worth the visit.
Check out www.bom.gov.au and pick your days. Since you have transport I am sure a few Melbournites won't be backwards in offering their guiding services for a lift.
