Hello, I have just moved to melbourne from sheffield (UK ) and would like to get back into climbing. Still a beginner as been climbing sporadically and not really done any outdoor climbing . Don't have car at present but have a bike. Still not sure of distances etc to gyms and living in south melbourne.
I am free evenings and weekends and my mobile no is 0431228447
Thanks
Gaby

Victoria Ranges (Flemington) is your closest gym, would be only a 10min bike ride from Sth Melbourne. Other gyms are at Alton & Nunawading (much further away). See the links section for the websites. Otherwise the Richmond Bridge supercrag is the ultimate cheap bluestone bouldering option.

Gabby, there's a couple of social groups that frequent Vic Ranges in Flemington. Some of us are even bike riders as well.
I'll post you off-forum and work details out from there.

There is also a list on the noticeboard at VR of about half a dozen people who are looking for climbing partners.
Best bet is to simply turn up for a bouldering session at VR and meet some of the poeple there and also grab some names from the VR notice board whihc you can call/SMS or put your name up as well.

Richmond Bridge looks unassuming when approached for the 1st time, but rest assurred its a super crag thats just waiting to suck you in....
PS: as alluded to under the guide, its under the rail bridge on Yarra Blvd

Hey Gaby,
Ive just gotten back into climbing again too, and yes Im back at the beginner stage. Im down at vic ranges 3-4 times a week, im on an extended holiday from work (sic) so time aint a problem at the moment. Give me a buzz (or a text if u like communicating in such a tragic way) on 0423053925. Or maybe ill see u down at vic ranges some time, im sure i can spot a sheffield accent if i have to.
cheers Raff
