All this talk about old bolts got me thinking about the original bolt master. Whatever happenned to Andrew Penney. I heard that he was into Paragliding a few years ago but otherwise whereabouts unknown.

Hey Pete! Funny you should ask as I was talking to Andrew only Saturday morning in
the car park of Liquorland, Katoomba. I asked when he got his first drill and started
using glue-ins/cement-ins etc.
He's alive, looking fit and working mostly as a tree climber/lopper.
He, like most of us, has aged a bit and with that mellowed too. He turned up on a
search for a lost bushwalker Lucas and I helped with a while back and I think he's even
been in to Glen's shop for a chat.
Nothin' like a bit of time...

I dont know which is spookier. Me asking about Andrew after you bumped into him recently or Andrew and Glen in the same room having a chat. I can remember when they used to cross the road to avoid each other!!
Glen mentioned that he had spoken to Andrew a year or so ago because Andrew was paragliding on the Brothers mountain in front of Glens extensive pastoral holdings up north.
Its also funny that he is working as tree climber as some his old routes at the Neck started off trees.
Thanks for the beta if you see him again say i said G,day. I wouldn't having a chat with him and getting misty eyed about the good old days.

Classic. I've got my "A Climber's guide to the rest around Mt. Victoria" - Andrew Penney, 1982 right here. What a blast from the past. Lots of very hairy climber photos.
