Hi Guys,
I am heading to Tonsai mid March just wondering if any other VIC climbers will be there?
This will be my first time climbing outside of Australia does anyone have any advice on meeting climbing partners in Railay?
Cheers,
Frost

Hey man,
you will have no problems finding someone a good place to start is by heading to tonsai roof (on the beach next to the freedom bar) in the morning or arvo a there are always dozens of climbers there.
have fun

Stay in Tonsai and you'll have no problem at all (tonsai is almost 100% climbers). Don't stay in Railay. Have a blast.
Just rock up and ask the first person you bump into where they stay etc etc.

Don't forget the liquid chalk, or plenty of block chalk, it's cheaper here than over there.

Before I went I heard alot about 'plenty o chalk.' I didn't find that a problem. Don't fret about it. Some climbing 24+ didn't use it (didn't even carry a chalk bag). I'm not sure why folks go on about it. Maybe if you want to climb in the sun at midday..??

I climbed all day, often in the sun, and found that a long singlet hanging off my gear loop was also very
good for getting the sweat out of my eyes (stings when looking up) but the liquid chalk is a good base
layer for the chalk to go on, in the old days chalk wasn't such an issue, but the more popular routes are
getting very polished these days.
Have fun !
