Hello,
I've just arrived from Montana to climb for a couple of months. First, I'm trying to find a car or van for sale or hire and basically get my act together, so I may not find real rock for another week. In the meantime, as it's now been over 10 days since I've had the pleasure to climb, is there anywhere at all to climb right around Melbourne? Laugh if you want, as I don't know yet how stupid I sound.

You Yangs - 40km away
Camels Hump - 50km away
That is it! You can find more info <--- under guides. There is some quarried buildering which is sort of real rock at places such as Richmond Bridge. Look under the Melbourne guide for some other 'real rock' experiences. It's not Montana.

How far away is 'right around' Melbourne? What sort of climbing do you prefer?

You've come to the state with some of the best climbing in the world BUT, it's all a trek to get there. Just bite the bullet and go to the Gramps, araps or buffalo on most weekends. It's 3 hour meditation on what's important in life. On the weekends you don't get out, a morning at a local crag will show you why you should have gone away.

Thanks,
If I could get away to Araps just yet, I'd be there already. I just have to have a little patience I guess.
