I'm relatively new to climbing and i'm just wondering if there's anyone in the area who is looking for people to climb with? I dont have a lot of gear but i've got a rope and a harness and a few biners. Just looking to put them to use.

Cheers, Tim

Try the Charles Sturt Uni Bar, there were quite a few climbers going to uni when I lived there, or go ask in adventure camping (opposite mountain designs in Dean street) or track down Climbau on this forum, I think he still lives on the border.

hope this helps

Stephen Gordon - gordoste is his chocky name - is an Albury climber. You could try sending him a PM.

Also, I think M9 lives down that way.

But watch out, he's an aid soloist. They are a strange breed.

You may have seen him around. He looks like this.

I'm in Wang. Still skiing, but will be looking to hook up with climbers in the area when it warms up a bit.

I am moving to Beechworth for work and should be there for a few months.

Buff is my fav place so it suits well, and am amped of knocking off half the aid routes in the gorge over that time.

I need parteners.

Nick

have you found any areas on the bogong high plains ?

... some potential can be seen from the peak behind Tawonga Huts.. aparrently mumc had a climbing trip out there sometime in the 60's - no idea where, also there is a crag visible from the aquaduct near the SEC Hut - across the other side of the valley probably approached from a track off the high plains road

Users paulie and gordoste would know more about it's current website status than me, but the site is not very active at the moment?
At a personal level I have had problems logging into it and the amount of spam coming from it has rendered any efforts to get access to it again, as being marginal from my perspective.

Border Climbing Club became a sub-chapter of VCC back in the days of prohibitive insurance costs. Some key mover-&-shaker members of the group have changed location/vocation/time available etc, and the site is still up ...
There is a fairly keen group of locals with a reasonably constant baseline of about a half dozen people (though the individuals change with transient population). There is potential for many more, as at one time BCC had about 50 people on its books.

~>Simply need to get together again and formalise the current contacts.

Maybe VCC can assist us with having a 'corner' of their website for our local news?
... of course it means that we all join VCC (if not already members), to make this a reasonable request!

I shall make some enquiries ...

Btw; VCC have been very supportive of our access issues to Mt Pilot, and the Chiltern-Mt Pilot Management Plan is still yet to be fully implemented ...
Upcoming works will include track re-alignment work, interpretive signs, etc.
It would be good to have our act together before this event.
