Anyone up for a boulder in Canberra? I'm a Sydney girl originally and am yet to hit the rock here. Saturdays best. PM me.

You can try http://www.canberraclimbing.com/ (website has local bouldering guides): meeting Weds 16th at ANU.
ANUMC runs climbing nights which seem quite popular.
There is a commercial gym at Mitchell (bit tired now) and at Hume which is fairly popular$.
All of the interesting bouldering areas involve driving.

Which part of Canberra are you in? There's plenty around to save you spending money pulling plastic...

I'm in the city (Braddon). I'd like to save money and avoid the plastic at all costs. I haven't been climbing for a while though, so my fingertips will probably feel it!

Apparently the Bluestone wall around the Library is worth a look too. Good for traversing/crimping.

Last time I checked it was still fenced off for some kind of renovation - does anyone know if there's
access again?

There are a few choices near by - Ararang Ridge(Chapman) about 15 min are the Playboy at Peirces Creek about 20min are the closest locals. There is even some new stuff on the ryolite on black mountain that climbs a bit like a woody on real rock. I'd be happy to show you some of it but can't do sat pm. live in o'conner and work in braddon.

My mum used to work at the NLA and the podium the building sits on leaks when it rains. The collection is under there and gets wet. After the staff stood out on the podium in the rain with umbrellas telling the newspapers "This is what we have to do to keep the collection dry" the government agreed to fund some repairs.
They should be finished soon. There's signs in the foyer of the NLA that tell you the schedules for the various areas but I only glanced at them last time I was visiting my folks so I couldn't tell you what the dates were.

Bachelors Lane at the southern end of ANU is OK for a workout - it's under vertical, but it has a workable crack too - it's the retaining wall that you can see above the freeway.
