Hey there! I'll be down under in April and I was hoping to get some bata on araps. I have a friend who is learning and I wanted to find some thing to take her on. Looking for routs in the easy to moderate range single or 2-3 pitch. I guess low to mid teens. I'm from California so I use YDS, but converters I've seen (2) were not the same. one put 5.8 at 18, and the other put it at 16. I supose it's all subjective anyway, right.
I prefer trad but if you know some good sport routs up to mid 20's I'm down with that.
BTW I'm also looking for a partner for the weekend of April 11-13 for some long routs on the Buffalo. Check my profile for stats and PM me if your intrested.

There's plenty of great routes at the grades you mention, but no sport routes. What makes Araps great is
that there are excellent routes at all grades. Bring wires, No.4 is my favorite at Araps.
I would have said 5.9 was 18.

Ignore the pedantic types Sharp_ender. If you climb anything on Plaque or Mitre Rock thats a sure 'rout' if you're looking for multi-pitch climbs. You'll be up it in no time. Climbs to avoid include anything on the Organ Pipes or Central gully + the Watchtower Faces or Tiger Wall. Some very serious epics on any of those walls. Nothing like a thorough rout to up your grades.

OK so he wants a route rather than a rout!
Watchtower Faces and Tiger Wall have 2 to 4 pitch climbs that are especially great outings in autumn.

I got the rout point. : )
American friends have told me they get cranky with the non-stop Oz irony and crave the occasional straight answer so I was wanting to underline that Watchtower and Tiger were indeed the places he was looking for. : ).
Of course, there could be something else I missed. My normally none-too-sharp brain is quite heat addled today.

No. Your kidding right?
Can't ever see that happening amongst climbers; particularly on an internet site.
Heh, heh, heh.

I suppose I left myself open for it with poor spelling.
Yeah all these forums have their subversive types. It's just a question of; do they use their super powers for good or for evil!!
Thanks for the input. It looks like Araps will be later in my trip though. Now I'm focusing on the Buffalo. I will start a new thread for that.
Hey M9 check for the Buffalo thread.
I think I'm getting the hang of this forum thing.
