Find Climbers In Your Area

Hello all,

I realise this is a Victoria Climbing forum, but I've heard it has readers from further afield, so I've decided to enquire here. I'm over from the UK, until 1st April, staying with some non-climbing friends in Adelaide and I'm ultra keen to do some climbing whilst I'm here.

Is there anyone who would be interested in climbing with me in the Adelaide area, between the 11th and 28th March? Alternatively, if you know anyone else who might be interested, or any clubs etc. I could meet up with, please let me (or them) know. Finally, if you are aware of any websites more local to Adelaide I could advertise at, that would be great to know too.

I'm not asking anyone to commit to anything just yet, just let me know if you might be interested. If it were possible to arrange some climbing during the week, whilst my hosts are at work, that would be perfect, although I realise that may be impossible. I'm happy doing sport, bouldering or trad and have been climbing about 11 years, but have only brought shoes, harness, belay plate and chalk bag over with me.

Thanks for any responses

Grant

Grant,

I've posted this to the Climbing Club of South Australia's email list.

Cheers

If you can get away for a whole weekend make sure you head south to Arapiles! Only 5 hours away and its the best climbing in Australia. Lots of South Aussies do the pilgrimage every weekend.

I will be climbing in Adelaide on the 20th and 25th. Most likely Morialta.

Drop us a PM if you're still looking for somebody to climb with - you're more than welcome to come along.

or just turn up at Norton summit on the weekend(about a 5 minute trip from Morialta), People there are generally happy to share a rope and belay, or if noone there then just boulder, or move on down the road to Bachelor pad for decent bouldering.

Got your message Grant, I have no climbing stuff with me though - hoping to hire it from somewhere.....
Heading to Adelaide Thurs 13th March so sometime after would be good. Any luck finding other climbers who may have more kit we can borrow/share with them?

Also anyone have any idea of the grade equivalents here? I can quite happily climb up to 6a top rope and I'll second up to about E1 ish (thats what I'm up to so far). Leading I have done v.diff and HS with no probs.
