I am going to Shanghai for a few months from the end of november to the end of febuary. I am looking for information on climbing activities in and around Shangers. I remember that there was backpackers near the Bund that had little bouldering wall set up in the bar. Does that mean that a lot of climbers go there??
or is it simply that people that go there know that there is no climbing anywhere near and have to resort to that little wall to keep up their skills when going there to travel??

Does anyone know of any good, or even bad gyms there??

I will be going either way so even if there are no replies, i will post a list of gyms in Shangers to visit.
Cheers all.

I climbed at the stadium gym in Shangahi back in March this year. I found it pretty easy to get too from the train station.

I only bouldered and the walls there were pretty good, although you have to make up your own problems, although it would serve as pretty good training. The walls looked fun although I didnt have a belayer. It also wasnt very crowded.

I spoke to some westerners living there that I met at the gym and they said that there is not much (ie none) climbing in or anywhere near Shanghai.

Super, Stadium it is, well at least to start. I cant imagine considering the current political climate, that there would be absolutely no climbing on the mountains nearby. i will use all the resources I get to find a few places. i am travelling light and have no leading experience so i cant really go unless i find another to take me.

It will be interesting though.

Saw the site listing the Shanghai stadium. it looks cool. I will try to get other photos and post them too if i can.

cheers for the help peoples.
