Hey guys,
I'm moving to Bright next week. Anybody live nearby??
Been out of the game for a while due to a broken wrist. Just coming good, so I'm looking for a gentle introduction to the climbing delights of the Alpine region. Bouldering, sport, trad, whatever, I have a rope and half a rack.
Hope to see you on the rock soon, comrades.

Here is my reply to a similar request not long back...
Re your

Bouldering exists at Wodonga and Beechworth, plus some at Buffalo although it's potential has not been extensively developed.
Sport? ... There is some at Mt Pilot.
Trad ~> Now you are talking, as there is heaps of it local to you!
Half a rack; ... that is all you will need (or less!), for anything slabby at Buffalo!!

And if you are careful M9 will introduce you to the 'whatever' . . . nudge nudge hook hook sway no more . . .

Hey mate,
I live in Porepunkah and get out as much as possible. I will be pretty busy till the end of ski season but after that i will get out a lot more.
Drop me a message or pop into my shop . It is the ski/outdoor shop (Absolute Outdoors Australia) on the left as you drive into Porepunkah.
Cheers

There is heaps more bouldering in the Beechworth Scenic Gorge than the Chockstone guide describes. Go out and have fun.
There is some sport routes in the Gorge as well. PM me for more detail.
Eldorado has seen a little boulder development, but is still awaiting a hardcore crew of granite grapplers.
The boys and girls associated with the Mann hotel at Falls Creek have a heap of bouldering sorted up on the high plains. If the old crew ain't there no more, just go explore as there is heaps. I also recall some tall boulders that may produce a few sport routes around pretty valley lake.
Hope this helps

is there anything written up about bouldering on Buffalo apart from the brief mention on this website?

As the guide book says, there ain't much. The general lack of features is not amenable to bouldering. The Leviathan traverse is worth playing around on. Otherwise, just hike around the place, you might find something others have missed.

There is bouldering potential here and there, but I'm not sure there's anything really concentrated. I remember walking out the the Viewpoint area from a climb and thinking there were and awful lot of boulder about that might have something on them.

there are just so many boulders you would think there would be a few hidden gems scattered around the place.

Rough unfeatured granite boulders. Much better bouldering off the mount...
