Climbing at Blue Mountains (and around Sydney) |

Hello!
I'm traveling to Australia on 29th of March and leaving 8th of April. I would love to climb at Blue Mountains (or also in Sydney). My friend has only tried climbing and doesn't own shoes or know how to belay (at least, not yet), so I need somebody to climb with. Of course local climber(s) as a guide would always be a great help in order to find crags and best routes etc.
I'm from Finland (studying abroad in Malaysia) and I can bring all the sportclimbing equipments with me. I'm usually able to on-sight up to 23 and my redpointing limit is around 26. I'm very much into trad-climbing too, I just couldn't carry any of my own trad-gear to Asia.
I fly to Gold Coast (with a friend) and maybe rent a caravan van probably from Brisbane. Then a road trip to Sydney, where we should arrive in the beginning of April. I think we must head back to Gold Coast before 6th (at latest). So, I should have at least a weekend in Sydney and most likely some weekdays too.
I'm looking for climbing partner(s) between 31.3.-5.4. around Sydney.
cheers,
-Tero

For a good single pitch sport crag, check out dam cliffs
Good spot for a swim too

Is a nice spot but I wouldn't fly all the way across the world to climb at the Dams Cliff! It's not exactly swimming weather right now either. :-)

Forget Sydney climbing - all the good stuff is in the Blue Mountains. The most popular areas are within walking distance of the town of Blackheath. If you can't get a belayer, just turn up to one of the major crags and ask some of the many climbers for a catch. Probably the best place to find lots of climbers are the crags of Upper Shipley, Centenial Glen and Wave Wall. These are all sport crags.
This might help you.

That's nice to hear!
Can you give me your email and we'll see if we can find a time, that suits for both? Do you have a guide (topo) book?
I have some problems with my primary email, so if you want to contact me, please cc to tmarttila.int10@usm.my as well.
