My name is Roger and i am a 24 guy from Madrid (Spain) looking for some interesting places to see. I have been erning money the whole year to pay this trip. I always wanted to go to australia and now, at last, i can go for 1 month. I know it´s not to much time but it´s the time i have got.
My passion is climbing in all of it´s forms, sportive climbing, boulder, etc.. that´s the reason of this email and the reasson also o my trip to Australia. Here in Spain the climbing seassons are the winter(mostly boulder) and the spring (boulder/sportive) becouse in summer is to hot to even try walking around. Well, I have always dreamed about the Grampians, for some, the best boulder area in the world, with also big wall climbing and as i have seen .... very nice slabs (i love them... )
Well, the reasson of the email is that i am going to go the 10 of august to australia and i will be in Grampians around the 20th. ¿How is the weather right now? ¿Do you think its too rainny or cold?I am going to go by my self so i would like to find a nice camping area (if its possible FREE) with ambient and freaks to climb with. ¿The camping in Halls Gap is it ok? ¿Do you know another one?

Is anybody interested in meeting a foreign climber? I am ...

Thanks in advance....

Roger.

Hi Roger,

Have a look back at some of the other recent requests for climbing parnters and weather info on this forum. Much of this has been discussed before.
A few very quick bits of information...

Weather - it is cold and wet - but still climable if you are bouldering/sport climbing.
Transport - you need a car. The Grampians has almost no public transport. The only place you can get to via public transport is Halls Gap which is a long way (50km) form the good bouldering/sport climbing in the Grampians.
Campgrounds - i would consider going to Arapiles first and finding a climbing partner there. It is only 70km from the Grampians. The Arapiles campsite always has clibmer with cars who are keen to go to the Grampians. Having 2000 climbs and excellent bouldering within walking distance of your tent also makes Arapiles a great place. The campsite costs only a few dollors a night. The best campground for the Grampians is Mt Stapylton which is near all the famous bouldering and Taipan Wall.

I hope this helps!

Hi Roger! Thanks for your reply at my topic! Unfortunately I think it doesn't fit. I will arrive not until the 13.08.04 and I first have to cure my jetlack first :) before I start my climbing holliday and then I planed to go to Sydney, where I pick up my dog!!!
But I wish you the best for finding nice climbers. I'm sure you will! I would be glad if you tell me all about your trip! I'm very interested! If you don't find anyone (I don't believe that!) and stay in Melbourne, tell me!
Bye, Melanie
