Hi all, I'm heading to Achberg,
SthGermany
Sept 26 for 2 weeks. Unfortunately not a devoted climbing trip however
we will be going on day trips from there (in between socialising with the fam :-/). As time is
limited I was hoping to get ideas as to the classic climbs around that area that are
reasonably accessible (1-2hr drive). Ideally some higher altitude mutlipitch rock - trad and
bolts. Any ideas?

Hey Rich,

what on earth are you doing in Achberg? Not the biggest city really ;-)

As for the climbing, there's definitely the Rätikon not far away with many classics

Not sure about guides but there are several that cover that range - usually in German though and maybe not worth buying if only for one day ... for details see the page above.

The little village of Bürs in Austria offers great sport climbing on overhanging conglomerate rock if the weather is bad - most parts are rain proof

I'll be back from Korea on 1st October so if you want you can drop me an email and maybe we can catch up / go climbing? I live only an hour or so away in Konstanz

Hey, hi Felix! Wie geht's?
I don't know anything over that way as my climbing in the area is basically south of Munich. Which is certainly driving distance from where you are, but the amount of rock around must mean there's something closer.
I'm currently parked in Austria with some local (Munich) climbers. I'll ask.
www.bergsteigen.at has a fairly good route database, it's in German of course.
