Am searching for and documented or not, climbing in this section of the NP,Access possibly Moffits Trail from Ben Bullen, seems to be a scattering of smaller cliffs not far off the highway near said trail.Have Wolgan guide-no mention. Is it likely routes have been done, but not noted? I realise it is an insignificant area considering it is part of the GOS, Capertee Valley,Wolgan etc Can anyone help?
Looking for shorter access climbing near ben bullen, rather than the usual Sahara Point etc Mr Law maybe your the brains trust?
Any help appreciated
have searched the forum,web etc

I was out on moffats trail earlier this week. had a look and there are probably some lines there but closer to wolgan gap i thought the rock looked absolute shite. as you get closer to ben bullen the rock seems to get better but a decent 4wd haul into it. be interested to know what you dig up.

I am presuming we are talking about Moffits Rd which runs from Patersons at Ben Bullen to the Wolgan Rd just sout of the Wolgan gap. A pretty hard to get into area without a 4wd, whether via the steep hill with the bend going down to Jews Creek on Moffits or the dusty hill from the road past the top of the Wolgan. Both of these turned out to be Forester stoppers btw. The easy way in and out is via BB mine. Sadly their gate is locked.

That said there are some cliffs along Moffitts before the BBG road which look a bit dodgy but could be developed. The gorge ging out to the Wolgan has a few interesting overhangs which could respond to ring bolt treatment if you could get at them.

Baal Bone Gap itself is worth the drive. Stand just beyond the water reducing station and look each way along the cliffline...there are some interesting things to look at to inspire the imagination. The western cliffline looks particularly nice. I suspect there is probably more at BB Point but accessing this means a nice 2km bush bash up the head of Jews Creek. I may have some old photos if you are interested.

The road from the Wolgan side should give access to the top of Cape Horn which is in the old Andrew Penney guide to the Wolgan. Just make sure you know where you are going. The cross track here back to Gardiners Gap goes past some easy looking cliffs. Cullen Bullen 294126. Look nice for beginners but lots of ferns at the bottom probably mean a snake lair.
