Does anyone apart from Tassie Jake have the faintest clue about where this crag is, and whether it has other routes besides Future Shock, as pictured in the latest Rock?

It mentions that it's in Hobart and since i have a whirlwind 4 day christmas visit there coming up was hoping for some local cragging action apart from the manufactured delights on offer at Freuhauf (or however the hell it's spelt), that I could dig my fingers into.

if your in hobart on a trip go the pipes dude! neika is ok but nothing special! to get there you have to join the pipeline track just above the turning circle metro buses use to turn their buses around. this is just past ferntree. 100m back from the turning circle you go up a steep track to join the pipeline track. follow this till you cross two metal bridges. just after these bridges there is an old 4wd track on the right. follow this. after a little while there is a large muddy bank on the RHS, follow the track up this bank. the first buttress where most of the routes are comes into view after about 10mins up the track. visit thesarvo.com for more info!

Thanks all. I've climbed on the pipes a couple of times before and absolutely loved it, but wondered if there were any other worthy crags offering squeeze-in-a-few-routes-in-the-arvo convenience.

Although Having dissed freuhauf, I actually thought the climbing there and at Waterworks was pretty enjoyable and way better than a local Sydney climbing crag...

well in terms of quality neika is on par with freuhof and waterworks IMO, but is ok as something different for a spare afternoon.

who ever said that freuhauf was an ethical nightmare?
really, it's not such a bad place.

jeez simon, if something is 'on par' with the waterworks then i want nothing to do with it :)
still, it cant be as bad as gunner's -- under no circumstances should you go there, unless you want your head circumsized!

seriously, i do want to check out neika some day. maybe when i am strong enough to get up one of the routes there.

p.s. thesarvo is down at the moment, anyone know what's up?
