Has anyone got any info for ice conditions up at Buller this season? With a good weather forecast and no other plans for the weekend, it's a toss up between wandering around Buller or heading to Bogong to tour around for 2 days...
Thanks,
Adrian

Was up walking west ridge on Wednesday. No snow until upper ridge (Buller proper, well above waterfalls)... even then only 20-40cm max. No ice in the fall at all... as in none. Nice wander though.

Went up Buller on Sunday 15th July - there was a heavy dump Saturday night - and yes the waterfall area is pretty ordinary but we did some nice front pointing on the South face

Thanks for the responses. Looks like I made the right decision heading out to ski for the weekend instead!
Here's hoping for some cold weather to set in at some point...

For anyone interested I was up there yesterday (12th Aug): Snow line was about halfway - three quarters along the west ridge and only consistent on the upper ridge. Seemed to be an alright amount of ice on the waterfall area but didn't get to have a close look. Good solid cover on the mountain itself.

I'm thinking about heading up from Melbourne this weekend (Sat 16th Sept) for a walk up the west ridge, and a general look for anything in condition to climb. Anyone seen the conditions lately?
Also, my partner pulled out today unfortunately, so I'm looking for someone to team up with. Send me a PM if you feel like coming along for a (hopefully) cold uncomfortable weekend!

There won't be any ice. Even if the weather conditions seem like they've been suitable, the rock is too warm this late in the year for ice to form up. Too many daylight hours at the moment.
