Wollondilly climbing

1:57:14 PM
Was looking through the rockies guides in particular the Wollondilly Guide.

Has anyone been climbing there?
Whats it like?
What routes have you done?
Any Stories?
What are the lower grade routes like (only climbing up to 13 or 14 Trad)?

Was going to head down there camping later on towards the end of winter and thought it might be worth a few days visit.

Find it really hard to believe no one has climbed here?

If anyone is interested in joinging a trip get in touch.

Ask WWS about Lanagans he loves the place.

Surely the guide you link to dispels the notion that "no one" has climbed there?

However, it's very probable that neither crag has seen much visitation in recent times.

These crags are a long journey from the nearest coffee shop (Mittagong).

It's trad/adventure climbing. No 'clip-ups' and chalk marks to show the way.

Perpendicular Rock is on land said to be owned by the Milat family who may not currently welcome people visiting their property.

Likewise, the Lanagan's Falls crag is on private property. Also, vegetation on the approach and on the cliff can be an impediment.

Notwithstanding all of the above, spend a few days camped by the river and explore the area. There may not be much climbing in the 13 - 14 grade bracket but it's a nice environment for a relaxed sojourn away from "civilisation".

Maybe a lot of people have visited the crag - they just never made their way back home again.

I just had a look at the guide too, and it was interesting enough to check out the area further. Looks great to me - lots of easy trad, great camping nearby, plenty for the kids to do (inc some real easy climbs I can take them up), Wombeyan caves nearby - so I'm off to do 2nd ascents of all the routes :-)

I'll post a TR if I don't get axed to death in the forest.

Batey, if you want to get in touch re climbing easy trad (my favourite) drop me a line. If you get to Wollondilly first, post up some answers to your questions!
