So, after 4 and a half years I will finally finish an environmental engineering degree.. I have a 5 days in early July to spare before starting a full-time position in Sydney and I'm keen for a small trip.
Last december I did a technical mountaineering course in NZ and I'd like to put those skills to use. Is there any worth while alpine route around for beginners in Oz?
Is there enough snow on the volcanos on NZ North Island at this time of the year?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks

Hmmm with the fickle weather in NZ it is a bit of a risk to just go with 5 days. Could be 5 days of bluebird weather....... or it may not be.
There will be plenty of snow on Taranaki etc though if you are prepared to risk it..... saw there was a dude from here doing a simmilar thing, perhaps you could track him down.
Ill be hanging round on the south island at that time........ and though it seems like we may have slightly different intentions, if you make it south let me know.

Agree. South Island is where it's at. Drop me a line if you come down Glenn.
