Cheers in advance.

Turn up, find on of the many free spots, pitch your tent, pay the camp fee at the honesty box (the ranger will be by to check), then climb to your hearts content
No booking, no phoning, just dont pitch on a bindi patch

You got to admire pedantry about correct use of colloquial abbreviations.

For the record, its pines not "the pines"

Oh, I love early morning pedantry. In my humble opinion:
It is 'Araps', because there (discounting Los Arapiles in Spain but with the exception of searching flickr there is very little ambiguity) is only one.
But the definite article 'the' is used to refer to 'the Mount' and 'the pines' to avoid confusion. "I'm going to Mount and going to camp at Pines." makes you sound like a Yorkshireman.

Shouldn't that be "makes you sound like Yorkshireman" ?

If it's not too much to ask, please lube the side door slide and doorlock of your camper. Makes it a lot quieter at 3am.

He's going to have a CAMPERVAN. He won't be pitching a tent.

You pedants are totally missing the point it is occasionally 'the' arapilies cos it sounds better. A noun starting with a vowel can be awkward to say so the definite article can be inserted to reduce this awkwardness.
I've heard it often (as a 1/2 ukrainian) in people saying 'the ukraine' and it occurs often in other languages. For example in spanish 'agua' (water) is masculine but 'la agua' sounds weird so it is 'el agua'. There are numerous other examples.

Good point, but Arapiles is an abbreviation of Mount Arapiles and Mount doesn't start with a vowel. You don't hear anyone say, 'We are going to the Everest'.

Simey, surely you of all people would recognise the ambiguities in saying simply 'I am going to mount'.

I think this stumpy would have been grammatically correct in saying "I am going to mount arapiles"
