Hey guys,
Quick question - are there showers near Araps anywhere?
Cheers

Can only think of the showers at the nati caravan park. heading into nati from araps there's a sign out to nati lake. head down the (winding) road for around 3km and it appears on your left. they charge a minimal amount ($3?).
so many showering memories...
otherwise if you head all the way into hortown, turn right at the first roundabout and keep heading straight (don't veer left as if you were heading back to melbourne town) and you'll find a caravan park down there too (maybe a ymca type setup?) that have showers...

Tell her she's dreamin'. Trick is to as quickly as possible match the odor that the rest of
residents of the pines have. That way everyone is happy. No sense in smelling like roses
walking across the cattle yard.

You can always go to the Horsham pool for a swim ($4.80 entry) to cool down and shower there as well

I don't know about that now - river is a bit smelly these days and I've come home for a shower after the last couple of time I was there. Bugger about that.
You can get a shower at Araps Base Camp - that's the now finally open backpackers on the left as you come into town - see ad in guidebook.
The caravan park in horsham has spat the dummy at climbers sneaking in and won't do showers any more. I think nati still does.

used to be able to shower in the royal hotel in the big sham for $5. that way you could be really quick and
then sneak in a couple of beers while the misses finished washing her hair.

dirt acts as sunscreen, why would you want to wash?
maybe some baby wipes for the pits and nether region, and you're set!

When taps were in the pines Martin Scheel and his girlfriend daily bathed nude with a hose and shower head conection. Bloody swiss. Maybe you could do that at the tap outside the Nati public toilets?

Thanks guys - will check those out.
Baby wipes are all well and good for a few days but not long term. I would happily have a wee dip in a (clean) river but then wouldn't argee with using any products to actually clean myself as bad for the environment.
I may have a midweek swim and shower though - good idea thanks.
I take it though there is nowhere that is just public showers you can use though? The only places are going to be campsites etc?

I don't think the locals would be able to deal with my pale Scottish skin. Mind you - it would maybe scare someone into offering me somewhere private to shower....

The entire population of the Monte Cucco campsite at Finale did that. And it was bloody freezing. The water, not the weather.

You can get shampoo that is grey water safe..not sure how that applies for rivers I'm sure there are worse things thrown in the river in the greater scheme of things.
There are toilets and (slow) running tap water at the pines -just fill the sink could just have a wash there. x

There were some heavy showers at Araps yesterday but not much use if you weren't there. I've washed myself in rain before and it's surprisingly difficult to get a proper rinse.

The tumble dry aspect of that technique doesn't have much to recommend it either.
