I have a pair of 25 year old size 45 (10 1/2) San Marco mountaineering boots. Blue plastic / red leather found the ankle. Rubber vibram sole. Never worn except to clomp around the garage. Sole appears brand new; inside completely clean (exc tongue, see below) I have gone up a size (too many big trad thongs) & cant get into them with socks on! They are very stiff (appear 100% rigid) & clearly designed for crampons as long as they are the older style strap on ones; although clipons may be able to be attached as there is a small heel shelf.

These boots have a stiff plastic covered foam tongue. The plastic on the tongue has cracked away in places so would have to be repaired somehow eg with some leather, or some new plastic. The foam & inner tongue liner is fine. They are probably fine with a tongue repair for NZ but I wouldn't think suitable for Nepal - they are not double boots.
The external plastic shell has no cracks; looks new still but there is no guarantee (from me) the external shell won't crack although it is likely pretty sound.

Because of the state of the tongues, I cant really sell them but will give away the only catch is you have to pick them up from Lindfield (in Sydney); (I can post but it will cost you something like $15-20 to get to you); also acknowledge you take them on an 'as is - no comebacks' basis .
