Launceston library had a copy a few years ago (havent been there for a while so dont know if its still there). The Hobart library has one too. If your local library doesnt have have a copy, im sure they could get one on interlibrary loan.

Or are you starting a collection Gary?

(by the way, im recently un-injured again touch wood. Are you still keen for some fridays climbing action? weather looks ok this Friday)

Think I have a copy somewhere. I'll have a look but I agree with mikl, it aint real good. Except maybe for his description of the first ascent of Mirrorman in the Wolgan and the photo at the back of Roland Pauligk climbing wıth a c--ky* on his shoulder.

You did just miss out on one which was sold on ebay but there's another one up there now. Given what people have ben saying though it may not be worth the $60+ that you'll have to pay for it.

Never did get the negative of that photo back from Joe, wonder if he's still got it.

Weather looks ideal in the north of the state (sunny, no wind, 10 degrees). I say ideal Fingal weather. We can check out the new access. Maybe try Finn Crisp or Cona McMora (or I'd be happy to do McDougnah again if you havent done it, or a day at Hillwood, or anywhere else you care to name...). Anyway, let me know by Thurs morning if possible so I can get the day off and contact Andrew re access.

Bloody good book. I have lost mine over the years but it is like a lighthouse on a foggy night as it beams out on friends bookshelves and I soak up the "there I was...."

Hey Dino. I've got a copy, perfect condition (though I just sneezed on it, but I cleaned it, promise!). Hmm, $16.95 in '83 (inherited from my stepdad), hard to find... what say you to $50?

If I was you dino, I'd buy it at that price, as I ended up paying more than that for my copy from a second hand bookstore that got it in for me.

More than $50? Maybe you should shop somewhere that DOESN'T have it in for you!

LOL. Yeah !.
Heh, heh, heh.

I was surprised at the cost but went for the convenience.
By the way, I had a choice at the time of about a half dozen that could be 'got in for me', and went middle of the road re price (condition based), due to wanting it in good condition.

I notice that some don't recommend it as a good book ...
Imo it is a good book but only if read as what it was meant to be at the time. To my knowledge there had not been anything like it published for the Australian scene prior, and it filled a niche perfectly to inspire and present in coffee table fashion the variety of Australian climbing available.
These days I enjoy it as much for the historical perspective.

(... must get around to doing a book review for it, on Chocky).
:)
