I just bought one from Aldi for $50 (reduced from $70). They look pretty sound. Can't wait to use it for all sorts of missions. I don't know if you will find any left though.

If Aldi doesn't cut it, I have one of these I don't use anymore

I think I bought it in 2005? It's a great tent, but a little cosy for 2 people. a series of rather tall boyfriends meant I ended up getting a slightly larger tent. So if you aren't 6ft tall, it's fine. I've used it in the French Alps and SW Tassie with no dramas. It is an expedition rated tent. It's in great condition. $300

what is your mission and why do you need such a heavy tent as has been offered?

I need something a bit larger internal space and lighter if possible, the WE tents are very strong but internally smaller and heavier for there living space then say a hubba hubba, ill be using it for Kayaking initially then some bushwalking when my knee is better

Your alpine bivvy-bag is not up to the task(?) ... maybe add a hutchie to the mix?
Oh, forgot the thread title includes 2P.
Heh, heh, heh. ;-)

I have come across some motorcyclists* who swear by (rather than at), their Aldi tents, but to my mind they seem a bit heavy for what they are, though the owners reckon them good value for money.

(*Not unlike kayaking / bushwalking where weight and space is a premium concern).

Post edit:
Have you considered using the fly off your portaledge as a lightweight tent?

Yeah, bivvy-bag and a big tarp to store everything under. Should be a fairly light weight and very pack-able package. Or something like a Golite Shangri-la 3?

Have done the tarp and bivy bag thing before, want some more comfort and insect protection.

My Portaledge fly weights a fair bit M9 have slept under it after bailing off solo attempt on Ozzy but wouldn't want to live under it for any length of time
