Selling my Fairydown Assault II tent. One of the best mountain tents made in my opinion. Bombproof. Awesome. Sad to see it go, but I'm honestly not going to need it. Just bought a new three-man tent for family use, and no two-person mountaineering (at least not camping) for me for a while.
This is my second of these and is in basically new condition. I used my old one well and good in NZ, North India, Pakistan Karakoram, Patagonia. The old one was awesome during some mean storms, heaps of snow and the hardest wind ever in Patagonia. After years of hard use and probably over 400 nights in it all I ever needed to get repaired was one gammy zip. But ultimately I destroyed the floor on it by pitching it unknowingly in kerosene soaked dirt in a porters camp in Pakistan and it was never the same again. But I did still get probably another 100 nights use out of it after that in any case.
Anyway, I got a second one (this one for sale) and I've never really used it .. maybe a couple of weekend good weather trips at Araps while using a groundsheet? Shame really, still has that new tent smell.
Weighs around 3.4kg if I remember correctly
10,000 tough floor
PU coated polyester fly, which I prefer to sil-nylon because it doesn't sag after getting wet so you don't need to get out of the tent and re-tension it in a storm.
Three-pole dome construction with two well-sized vestibules.
I've got some stock photos below, and a photo of the old tent in action. No photos of this actual tent because I never took any and won't pitch it just for that purpose. But you're welcome to inspect it.
