Hi all

Friends and I are gearing up for a trip to Nepal, and we're looking to buy crampons, ice axes and so on. Budget is tight so second hand is great. Pm me if anyone has stuff to shift. Cheers Pete

Hey Mr Poo thanks mate, I think these are a bit too hardcore for our trip. We are going to a couple of trekking peaks, and only "tasting" ice climbing for a couple of days.

Cheers thanks for replying

Hey

I'm in Kathmandu right now.

Just thought I would let you know that new black diamond climbing gear is pretty cheap here. Seems to be a tad cheaper than the states.

You can find absolutely anything here for a pretty good price. Finding the right size boots can be tricky. But u can find everything from new la sportive spantiks to second hand leather boots. Second hand crampons and ice axes are in abundance but you will have to bargain hard. Fake clothing is the best bargain.

No sweat. Just remember the 'real' shops are located about a block out of Thamel on the road to the palace. North Face, mountain hardware and a few other shops. They sell the real stuff for around American prices. Don't expect any valuable advice from most staff. In fact don't expect any real customer service.

Any clothing and other softgoods in the Thamel shops is most likely fake.

Have fun.
