Looking for room to rent ACT

Hello,

I'm moving to the ACT in January 2012 and am looking for a room to rent, preferably in the southern part of ACT. I wont be around on the weekends as I'll be going to stay with my boyfriend in Jervis Bay.

Any information / referrals would be great.

I'll also be looking for climbing partners too - which gym is good??

Thanks everyone,

Tan

The rental market in Canberra sucks more than the rental market in Sydney.

Around January, you have to compete with all the uni students looking for digs.

You could always see if davidn has room in the chook shed of power.

The gyms in the ACT are pretty garbage, it's far better to get out to one of the many crags dotted around the southern part. Closest good crags being maybe only 20 minutes drive away.

On a slightly more positive note, the original poster is looking in the southern suburbs. From my 17 years of living in Canberra including renting for 4 years in the inner north, I never heard that students were knocking over each other to get into Tuggeranong considering the Universities are all on the North side.

Good luck in your searching, Canberra is a great place to live that avoids the pretense offered by the larger cities.
