Word of Caution: Car broken into at Mt.York

My wife and I climbed at Mt.York today (Sunday,13/6) and parked our car at the somewhat secluded 'car park' near the gully that leads down to climbs like Mezzaluna, Noodle, Lexical Density etc.

At the end of the day, when we got back to our car after a great day of climbing, we were horrified to find it had been broken into. Someone had smashed our passenger side window with 2 big massive rocks.

This was not the first time we had parked our car at this spot, but after today I think we will be walking the few extra metres to the main car park area instead.

Anyway, just thought I'd let everyone know, be mindful where you park your car.

Bad stuff. Hasn't been much of that sort of thing around the mts for a few years. Lousy that it's happened. Not exactly why you go climbing, to be effected by this sort of crap.

Did they get into the car, looking for stuff or was it likely rocks thrown at the car by passers by??

Let's hope it's not a sign of things to come.

Some change was taken from the ashtray, all the 'gold' coins were taken but the rest of the change was left.

My wife and I suspect that someone must have heard the glass breaking and had gone to investigate or someone might have driven by as it happened as everything else that could have been taken was not like nice pair of sunnies.

So the culprits must have been interrupted in the process, so quite thankful for that.

The 'funny' thing was that while me and my wife were climbing, we both thought we heard a 'crashing' sound and it did sound like glass being broken.

But both of us dismissed it as perhaps just a rock being dislodged and crashing down a hill.

Oh well, hopefully it will be a once off. Love climbing at Mt.York.
