Howdy all,
I know a few Victorians have headed over to WA for the mining boom recently (I've even seen a couple of them posting requests here for climbing partners) and a few West Aussies read these forums, so hopefully this isn't off-topic enough to incur anyone's wrath!
Anyone over in Perth on the 29th, please feel free to come along.
Cheers,
Paul
The New Zealand Alpine Club is pleased to announce their first social event in Perth, Western Australia. This is a joint event with the Climbers Assoc. of Western Australia (CAWA) and, well, just about any other local climbers (rock or alpine) interested in coming along!
What: Dave Moyses presenting on his latest climb of Bluff Knoll's north face
Where: Rosie O'Grady's, 205 James St (Cnr Milligan, opp. Russell Sq.), Northbridge, WA
When: 7:30pm Thurs. 29th Oct. (6:30pm for food/drinks)
Free finger food will be provided courtesy of NZAC.
Dave Moyses has climbed in WA for over 20 years and developed a fascination with the Stirling Ranges and Bluff Knoll in particular. His enthusiasm for the place is infectious. He pioneered, with Mac McArthur, two high level traverses of the North Face of Bluff Knoll named The Grim Reaper (19) and Petrophiloides (15). These climbs take in some impressive
ground as they cross The Dark Tower, Coercion, Hell Fire Gully and other great routes on Bluff Knoll giving a lovely taste of each. Come along to hear about these climbs and get more information about the closest thing we have to an alpine crag in WA.
Please come along for what should be a great presentation and a good night of mingling with other Perth-based climbers.
For further information, please contact Tom Marshall or Paul Day .
As usual, if you would like to help run an Alpine Club social event in your local city, please get in contact with Paul .
