Hi guys,

New thread cause I figure this is big enough news for a new topic and a new discussion.

I had tentatively arranged to get news of Andrew's success directly from the summit but he failed to call his press person. Two days passed and I had a feeling something had gone wrong. I also had a few suspicions when all he could manage were a few lines after he made it back to ABC before disappearing again. Turns out I was right - his ultimate climb was almost hist last.

It's late in the evening and I only just got this news a few minutes ago so I've published the press release as is.. Lazy I know but I wanted to bring you this news first

Sorry and first paragraph .. always nice for the forum...

MOUNTAINEER, Andrew Lock, became the first Australian to summit all 14 of the world’s highest peaks when he stood atop Tibet’s Mt Shishapangma on Friday night but his elation was short-lived when his descent was delayed by a storm and he was forced to spend the night huddled on an icy shelf at 7600m fearing for his life.Lock and his climbing partner Neil Ward from Wales reached the 8027m summit after 12 hours climbing. Already exhausted and with the weather deteriorating and night closing in, they had barely enough time to shake hands before starting their descent.
