|Red Chili Pumpfest - Final Round on Saturday
The final instalment of the Red Chili Pumpfest is on Saturday (4th July) @ The Lactic Factory
Same format and timing as the previous two for those of you in the know. But for those of you who were unfortunate enough to miss out on the earlier rounds at Bayside Rock (Carrum Downs) and The Rock (Geelong)..........
Pumpfest Format: All the problems in the gym are graded and you have 2 hours to try and complete the hardest 6 problems you can. You can have unlimited attempts on a problem and are rewarded with an extra point for flashing a problem (first go).
Timing: There are 2 sessions run on the day, one in the morning and one after lunch. It is possible to enter either session, they are not split on ability, so you can climb with your friends. We split the climbers into categories at the end. After the 2 sessions, the top 5 boys and girls overall are taken into isolation and then we run a 5 problem final to sort out the final placings.
Prizes are sponsored by Red Chili and Wild Country for placegetters in Open, Intermediate and Junior.
Spaces are limited to 35 competitors per session.
We will be taking bookings for the spots and we expect that the comp will book out before the weekend.
Please note - All bookings will be released 10 minutes before the session starts and given to the wait-list people unless secured with a payment. So either pay when booking or turn up early on the day to ensure your spot.
Cost: Full Price $25, Conc $20 (VCC or Student)
For more information please go to www.melbourneindoorclimbing.com/comps
These comps are a great social occasion and one of the best training sessions you'll ever have. If you haven't been in a pumpfest before, you should try it - I'm sure you'll be surprised at how much fun they are.
Hope to see you next Saturday!
Oh and I forgot to add.
We will be closed on Friday for setting and Saturday there will be no non-comp climbing either.
SO, with the weekend weather looking cold and wet...
How about having the best training session on plastic you've ever had? The pumpfest format strongly resembles a normal bouldering training session with your friends chatting/sandbagging/spotting but with a much higher training intensity that leaves you utterly spent as you're trying to just get one more hard problem done before the time runs out...
Nice way to try and kick start your winter training at a new level instead of maintaining your current comfy plateau.
As at 5.00pm on Thursday we have 14 spots left for the 10am session and 13 spots left for the 12.10pm session.
Hope to see you on Saturday,
