'Spiderman' climbs Sydney city centre tower 4-Jun-2009 At 12:43:16 PM john Davis

This climb took me back to when we used to climb buildings in the early 60s. First the
Central railway clock tower, then, Town hall clock tower, Dept, Lands, St Mary's
Cathedral, Art Gallery, and the Harbour bridge. We used to start at midnight and finish
before dawn.

We were arrested on the Art Gallery. The police were relaxed and puzzled When our
abseil rope became stuck they let me solo up to the flag pole and free it. Then they took
us to the station and after some puzzled phone calls sent us home with a warning.

In the 70s we set up two climbers (Ray Lasman?) to climb the Central railway clock
tower in daylight so we could film them. A policeman interviewed them on the climb
(picture 2) and they went to court and were fined.

Nowadays you would be seen as a terrorist.
