Hi there,
I've heard there are some access issues to Gallery/Millenium (closed roads).

The road to Millennium Caves is always gated for winter (starting in late May usually) - the gate is at the Buandik campsite. It's a 45 minute walk up the hill instead. Gallery road is usually open all winter unless they have had extreme flooding.

in addition to the seasonal gating, Parks Vic and/or DSE were planning some controlled burns in the area so maybe that's begun?

Won't be any more controlled burns this side of spring. It's too wet. They'd have to douse everything in napalm to get it to burn.
These are probably famous last words. We'll probably have a heat wave roll in for the rest of June.

The sign for closure says mid june onwards... Does anyone actually know for certain if the road is closed now?

I think a lot of the time they gate the roads BEFORE the Queens Birthday long weekend, as they know that's the time when the most damage will get done by convoys of 4WDers who don't normally go there on a normal weekend. That's the case on most of the alpine roads anyway.

Hi,

Just checked the road update list. From what I can see the roads are still open -

# Flood damage on Asses Ears road has been fixed but the surface may still be slippery after rain.
# Flood damage on Glenelg River road near Boreang Campground has been fixed but the surface may be slippery after rain.
# Harrops Track has been patched and graded between Redrock Rd and Goat Trk ,The surface may be slippery after rain.

# Rosea Track – is open only from Stoney Creek Rd through to Tower Hill [4x4 only between Bundaleer and Tower Hill]

# Seasonal tracks that are open:

Launders track

Chinaman track

Goat track

Victoria Range road

Mair track

Matthews track

Briggs track

Link track

Flagstaff track

Lynches Crossing track

Mt Cassell track

Bellfield Fireline

Burnt Hut Creek Track

Moora Track

Fields Track

Ostlers Track

I will start posting road updates on the VCC site shortly - have limited internet at the mo. Will start another thread with all the road/track status for today.

Cheers

Tracey
